A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE PROTECTION AND ADVOCACY FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES, INC., UPON THE CELEBRATION OF ITS TWENTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY AND TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND PROTECTION AND ADVOCACY FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES, INC., FOR ITS OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE PEOPLE OF SOUTH CAROLINA IN PROTECTING THE LEGAL, CIVIL, AND HUMAN RIGHTS OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES.

Whereas, Protection and Advocacy for People with Disabilities, Inc., has protected the legal, civil, and human rights of South Carolinians with disabilities and their families since 1977; and

Whereas, Protection and Advocacy for People with Disabilities, Inc., has enabled people with disabilities to advocate for themselves, spoken on their behalf when they have been discriminated against or denied a service to which they are entitled, and promoted policies and services which respect their choices; and

Whereas, Protection and Advocacy for People with Disabilities, Inc., will commemorate its twenty-five years of service to South Carolinians with disabilities at a twenty-fifth anniversary celebration to be held on Friday, April 5, 2002; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and thank this wonderful organization for all it has done on behalf of the special citizens of our State which it serves. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of General Assembly hereby congratulate Protection and Advocacy for People with Disabilities, Inc., upon the occasion of the celebration of its twenty-fifth anniversary and recognize and commend Protection and Advocacy for People with Disabilities, Inc., for its invaluable contributions to the people of South Carolina.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Gloria M. Prevost, Executive Director, Protection and Advocacy for People with Disabilities, Inc.
