A Concurrent Resolution commending Dr. James R. Morris, Jr., of Columbia, for
his outstanding leadership and work as Executive Director of the South
Carolina State Board for Technical and Comprehensive Education, and wishing
him happiness following his retirement.

A CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
COMMENDING DR. JAMES R. MORRIS, JR., OF COLUMBIA, FOR
HIS OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP AND WORK AS EXECUTIVE
DIRECTOR OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA STATE BOARD FOR
TECHNICAL AND COMPREHENSIVE EDUCATION, AND
WISHING HIM HAPPINESS FOLLOWING HIS RETIREMENT.
Whereas, since June 1, 1986, Dr. James R. Morris, Jr., has faithfully and
most ably served the citizens of this State as the Executive Director of
the State Board for Technical and Comprehensive Education; and
Whereas, Dr. Morris, a native of Vicksburg, Mississippi, earned his
associate's degree at Hinds Community College in Mississippi in 1959,
his B.M.Ed. degree from Mississippi College in 1965, his M.E. degree,
also from Mississippi College, in 1966, and his doctoral degree from the
University of Southern Mississippi in 1971; and
Whereas, he served as President of Midlands Technical College in
Columbia from 1981 to 1986, was Associate Executive Director of the
State Board for Technical and Comprehensive Education from 1977 to
1981, and was President of Sumter Area Technical College from 1972
to 1977; and
Whereas, he is known and admired for his hard work, intelligence, and
ability to lead and inspire; and
Whereas, his contributions to technical and comprehensive education in
the Palmetto State will be felt for many, many years to come; and
Whereas, he has been a dedicated public servant, and the people of the
State of South Carolina are grateful for all that he has accomplished; and
Whereas, on June 30, 1994, he is retiring as Executive Director of the
State Board for Technical and Comprehensive Education; and
Whereas, we are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize him and
to extend our best wishes for a happy and successful future. Now,
therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this
resolution, commends Dr. James R. Morris, Jr., of Columbia for his
outstanding leadership and work as Executive Director of the South
Carolina State Board for Technical and Comprehensive Education and
wishes him happiness following his retirement.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr.
Morris.
