A JOINT RESOLUTION
TO NAME THE 1,000 ADMINISTRATION BUILDING AT
FLORENCE-DARLINGTON TECHNICAL COLLEGE AS THE
"FRED C. FORE BUILDING".
Whereas, Fred C. Fore was the founding President of
Florence-Darlington Technical College in l963 and retired in l988;
and
Whereas, Fred C. Fore guided the College's development from a
one acre rural farmland site to a massive institution with over a
300-acre campus and capital improvements of over 25 million
dollars; and
Whereas, during his career as President of Florence-Darlington
Technical College, Dr. Fore was recognized as outstanding
President of the Year by the South Carolina Technical Education
Association, Outstanding College President of the Year by the
South Carolina Association of Higher Education, Outstanding
Technical College President by Vocational Teachers Association,
and awarded the Order of the Palmetto. He now serves on the
South Carolina Higher Education Commission; and
Whereas, Dr. Fore upon graduation from Mullins High School,
received his baccalaureate and master's degrees in vocational
education from Clemson University and completed his doctorate at
the University of South Carolina. He was awarded an Honorary
Doctor of Humanity Degree from Francis Marion University,
recognizing his dedication to the citizens of South Carolina in
education and economic development; and
Whereas, he served our nation in the military service for thirty-eight
years, retiring as a senior officer in l990; and
Whereas, Dr. Fore was recognized by his Pee Dee educators and
citizens for his wise guidance, dedicated administration, and
educational vision that contributed immeasurably to the quality of
life of South Carolina citizens generally and Pee Dee citizens
specifically. Now, therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South
Carolina:
SECTION 1. The l,000 Administration Building at
Florence-Darlington Technical College is named the "Fred C.
Fore Building" and the college shall place appropriate signs
designating the building as the "Fred C. Fore Building".
SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by
the Governor.
