 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING DR. JAMES A. TIMMERMAN, JR., UPON HIS
 RETIREMENT AS DIRECTOR OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES.

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING DR. JAMES A. TIMMERMAN, JR., UPON HIS RETIREMENT AS DIRECTOR OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES.

Whereas, Dr. James A. Timmerman, Jr., obtained a B.S. degree in zoology from Clemson University in 1957, his M. S. degree in zoology from Clemson in 1959, and a Ph.D. degree in zoology from Auburn University in 1963; and

Whereas, Dr. Timmerman served as Acting Director of the Marine Resources Division of the South Carolina Wildlife and Marine Resources Department from March 1970 through December 1970; in January 1971, he was made permanent Director of the Marine Resources Division, where he served until January 1974, at which time he was appointed Deputy Executive Director of the South Carolina Wildlife and Marine Resources Department; on November 1, 1974, Dr. Timmerman was appointed Executive Director of the South Carolina Wildlife and Marine Resources Department; and

Whereas, effective July 1, 1994, a new agency, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, was formed; during a period of transition, Dr. Timmerman was named Director-Designee of the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) in January of 1994; on July 15, 1994, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources Board voted unanimously to name Dr. Timmerman agency Director, the position which he currently holds; and

Whereas, Jim Timmerman is respected and admired by all who know him; he is one of the hardest-working public servants ever in South Carolina; he brought vision and dedication to his job and made the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources a premier wildlife/marine/natural resources agency; his work is recognized and applauded throughout the nation, and he has served the citizens of South Carolina well; he is highly deserving of commendation and thanks for a job well done as he reaches retirement. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate Dr. James A. Timmerman, Jr., upon his retirement as Director of the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Timmerman.
