A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY AND SORROW OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF LASHAY TANE WILLIAMS OF WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY WHO DIED SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 29, 1997, AT THE AGE OF SEVENTEEN.

Whereas, Lashay Tane Williams of Williamsburg County died Saturday, November 29, 1997, at the age of seventeen; and

Whereas, she was the loving daughter of Jefferson and Moretta Williams, and the sister of LaQueen Tyeasha and Tywone Jeffrey Williams; and

Whereas, she is survived also by her paternal grandparents, eleven aunts and fifteen uncles, and a host of cousins and friends; and

Whereas, she was a faithful member of St. Mark A.M.E. Church in Hemingway from an early age; and

Whereas, she graduated as Valedictorian of her eighth grade class at Battery Park Elementary School, and remained an honor student at Hemingway High School; and

Whereas, Ms. Williams was Battalion Commander of the Junior ROTC, President of the Senior Class, and 1997 Homecoming Queen, in addition to participating in numerous academic and service organizations; and

Whereas, her death was too soon and her family and friends feel their pain too deeply and this State suffers her loss too early. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly express their deepest sympathy and sorrow to the family and friends of Lashay Tane Williams of Williamsburg County who died Saturday, November 29, 1997, at the age of seventeen.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to her parents, Jefferson and Moretta Williams.
