TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA,
1976, BY ADDING SECTION 50-21-725 SO AS TO PROVIDE
THAT NO JET SKIS MAY BE OPERATED IN ANY PORTION OF
THE LYNCHES RIVER THAT HAS BEEN DESIGNATED AS A
SCENIC RIVER, AND TO PROVIDE PENALTIES FOR
VIOLATIONS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South
Carolina:
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 50-21-725. No jet skis may be operated in any
portion of the Lynches River that has been designated as a Scenic
River pursuant to Section 49-29-230. The Department of Natural
Resources shall post appropriate signs in these portions of the
Lynches River informing the general public of this prohibition. Any
person violating the provisions of this section is guilty of a
misdemeanor and, upon conviction, must be punished by a fine not
exceeding two hundred dollars or imprisonment not exceeding thirty
days."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
