A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND SALUTING MARY M. LAW UPON HER
RETIREMENT AS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF SCBRPELS.

04/08/99 House Introduced, adopted, sent to Senate HJ-49
04/13/99 Senate Introduced, adopted, returned with concurrence SJ-3

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

RECOGNIZING AND SALUTING MARY M. LAW UPON HER RETIREMENT AS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF SCBRPELS.

Whereas, Mary M. Law was originally employed by SCBRPELS on October 1, 1957; and

Whereas, she was named Executive Director of SCBRPELS in July of 1960 (The original title was "Assistant Executive Secretary" and was later changed to "Executive Director" without any change in responsibilities); and

Whereas, between 1957 and 1960 she was employed both by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) and SCBRPELS; and

Whereas, Ms. Law has served on at least fifteen NCEES committees and has been a repository of historical information for both SCBRPELS and NCEES; and

Whereas, she has appeared frequently before legislative committees to provide background information for proposed legislation; she has worked diligently to promote engineering and land surveying statutes and regulations for the protection of the public health, safety, and welfare and the advancement of the professional practice of engineering and land surveying; and

Whereas, Mary M. Law is held in high esteem by members of the engineering and land surveying communities in South Carolina and nationally; through her efforts, South Carolina is regarded as a model state for regulation of the engineering and land surveying professions; through her skills, SCBRPELS has become regarded as an efficient and responsive board; and during her tenure as Executive Director of SCBRPELS, the board has had high morale and a low turnover rate among its employees; and

Whereas, it is indeed a pleasure for us to have the opportunity to salute so outstanding a lady as she retires this year as Executive Director of SCBRPELS; she is a hard worker and a born leader and is truly deserving of recognition. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognizes and salutes Mary M. Law upon her retirement as Executive Director of SCBRPELS.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Ms. Law.
