 A HOUSE RESOLUTION TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH
 CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO THE FAMILY OF THE HONORABLE RANDOLPH
 MARION "RUDY" MASON, A MEMBER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, WHO DIED
 UNEXPECTEDLY EARLIER THIS WEEK.

A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO THE FAMILY OF THE HONORABLE RANDOLPH MARION "RUDY" MASON, A MEMBER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, WHO DIED UNEXPECTEDLY EARLIER THIS WEEK.

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives were deeply saddened to learn of the untimely death of their dear friend and respected colleague, Representative Rudolph Marion "Rudy" Mason who died unexpectedly earlier this week; and

Whereas, Representative Mason was born on March 21, 1933, in Henderson, Vance County, North Carolina, the son of Marion W. and Mildren J. Mason; and

Whereas, Rudy Mason was educated in the public schools of Henderson, Vance County, North Carolina, and later attended Lynchburg College, Lynchburg, Virginia, where he was president of the student body. He graduated from Lynchburg College with a BA Degree in 1957; and

Whereas, on April 13, 1956, he married Lu Ann Graves, and they have four children: Daniel, Steven, Thomas, and Betsy; and

Whereas, active in business as an insurance agent, Rudy Mason was a past president of Aiken Sertoma Club and served his community as a member of the City of Aiken Planning Commission for six years and also served as chairman of the planning commission for two years; and

Whereas, Representative Mason served as an elected member of the South Carolina House of Representatives from 1995 until his death. During his tenure as a member of the House of Representatives, he quickly earned the respect, trust, and affection of his legislative colleagues; and

Whereas, Rudy Mason was recognized and respected for his commitment to good government, for his insight into complicated legislative issues, and for his leadership ability. He served as chairman of the Labor, Commerce and Industry Committee's Subcommittee on Insurance where his experience in the insurance industry and his qualities as a leader served the people of his district and the State exceedingly well. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, hereby express the deepest sympathy of the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives to the family of the Honorable Rudolph Marion "Rudy" Mason, a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives, who died unexpectedly earlier this week.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the widow of the Honorable Rudolph Marion "Rudy" Mason, Mrs. Lu Ann Graves Mason of Aiken.
