H*4186 Resolution, By Anderson
A HOUSE RESOLUTION TO CONGRATULATE DR. RANDY DOZIER, GEORGETOWN COUNTY SCHOOL
DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT, ON BEING NAMED STATE SUPERINTENDENT OF THE YEAR BY
THE SOUTH CAROLINA ATHLETIC ADMINISTRATORS ASSOCIATION.
05/31/07 House Introduced and adopted HJ-5
H. 4186
A HOUSE RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE DR. RANDY DOZIER, GEORGETOWN COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT, ON BEING NAMED STATE SUPERINTENDENT OF THE YEAR BY THE SOUTH CAROLINA ATHLETIC ADMINISTRATORS ASSOCIATION.
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are pleased to learn that Dr. Randy Dozier has been named State Superintendent of the Year by the South Carolina Athletic Administrators Association; and
Whereas, as a former high school coach who knows the score and realizes the value of athletics, Dr. Dozier strongly supports high school athletics, listening to what his athletic staff members have to say, frequently commending them, and attending games for all district schools; and
Whereas, he affirms that students who participate in athletics tend to do much better overall than students who do not participate and that these sports-minded students learn lifelong lessons in how to work with a team as both leader and follower; and
Whereas, as he rightly observes, "Being involved with athletics helps students learn how to cope with wins and also with losses in an appropriate manner. You're not always going to win...Sometimes it's just a matter of competing, finishing. Look at events like track and field...it's not always about winning; it's about finishing the race...[and] that's an important lesson..."; and
Whereas, Dr. Dozier keeps in touch with his schools, the students, coaches, and parents, and it means a great deal to them to see this district leader so often at school games; and
Whereas, nominated by Waccamaw High School Athletic Director Joan Cribb, Dr. Randy Dozier had previously won the Region Superintendent of the Year award before claiming the state's top honor, which he accepted at the South Carolina Athletic Administrators Association's March 13 annual meeting in Charleston; and
Whereas, the House of Representatives takes great pleasure in recognizing Dr. Randy Dozier upon his receiving this noteworthy honor and joins with his school district, family, and friends in extending hearty congratulations to this supportive, caring superintendent. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Dr. Randy Dozier, Georgetown County School District Superintendent, on being named State Superintendent of the Year by the South Carolina Athletic Administrators Association.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Randy Dozier.
