Whereas, Rodney Graves, Broome High School principal, has this to say of this beloved Spartanburg County School District Three icon: "During my thirty-plus years in education, Skip Frye has to be one of the most respected coaches, PreviousathleticNext directors, mentors, educators, and, most importantly, class acts. Broome High School is fortunate to have him on our team. He sets the standard for the rest of us to follow"; and

Whereas, in preparation for his life's work, Skip Frye earned a bachelor's degree in English education from the University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg, followed by a master's degree from the University of South Carolina; and

Whereas, having begun his teaching career in 1979 at Laurens Junior High, Coach Frye moved in 1981 to Spartanburg County School District Three. There, he taught for a year at Cowpens Junior High and then transferred to Broome High School in 1982 as an English teacher and coach; and

Whereas, in 1983, Skip Frye began coaching track and field at Broome, and the following year he started the school's cross country program; and

Whereas, as a track coach, he has won four state championships, five upper-state championships and twenty-nine region championships. In cross country, Coach Frye owns twelve region championships, two upper-state championships, and one state championship; and

Whereas, most recently, the boys' track team won its eighteenth consecutive region championship, giving them the top prize for the region every year since the turn of the twenty-first century; and

Whereas, furthermore, Coach Frye, whose career spans thirty-five seasons of coaching track and field and thirty-four seasons of coaching cross country, is a South Carolina Track and Cross Country Coaches Association Hall of Fame member, having been inducted in 2010; and

Whereas, Skip Frye finds his greatest strength in the strong support of his beloved wife, Chris, their three fine children, and their delightful grandchild; and

Whereas, grateful for his excellence as a coach and PreviousathleticNext director, the House takes great pleasure in commending Skip Frye on his outstanding career, and the members wish him much continued success in the days to come. Now, therefore,
