RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE CLIFFORD "CHIP" ATKINS,
BARNWELL HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL COACH, ON
HIS MANY OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS DURING HIS
MORE THAN THIRTY-YEAR CAREER AS A HIGH SCHOOL
BASKETBALL COACH.
Whereas, Clifford "Chip" Atkins, Barnwell High School
Boys Basketball Coach has compiled a record of 507 wins and 241
losses during his more than thirty years of coaching high school
basketball in South Carolina; and
Whereas, his winning record places him first on the list of active high
school basketball coaches in South Carolina and fifth on the list of
most wins among the State's active and retired high school basketball
coaches; and
Whereas, during his career, Coach Atkins' basketball teams have won
two State Championships and sixteen Regional Championships; and
Whereas, he has been named State Boys Coach of the Year by the
South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association; and
Whereas, Coach Atkins recently led the South Carolina Boys High
School Basketball All-Stars to victory in the inaugural Carolina
Classic Boys High School All-Star basketball game; and
Whereas, he was recently awarded the "High School Sports
Report's" Lifetime Achievement Award, and
Whereas, we are extremely proud to have this opportunity to honor
the enormous achievements of Barnwell High School Boys
Basketball Coach Clifford "Chip" Atkins. Now,
therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate
concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South
Carolina, congratulate Clifford "Chip" Atkins of
Barnwell County on his outstanding achievements during his more
than thirty years of coaching high school basketball in South
Carolina.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to
Coach Clifford "Chip" Atkins.
