Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were pleased to learn that the Lady Titans Tennis Team of Trinity Collegiate School in Darlington, won the school's third consecutive South Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association State Championship on October 15, 2005, with a convincing win over Beaufort Academy; and
Whereas, this 2005 championship victory was a rematch of the 2004 championship also won by the Lady Titans and a great follow on to the team's 2004 state championship against previously undefeated Pee Dee Academy; and
Whereas, the dedication of the members of this team, under the tutelage of its outstanding coach, Ms. Meri Lyn Rogers, is an example of how hard work, endless practice, and perseverance can lead to success in varsity athletics and is an exemplar of true scholar athletes, who compete for the pure joy of competition and the comradeship in both victory and adversity that is the attraction of varsity athletics; and
Whereas, the success of the Lady Titans has brought repeated and well-earned recognition to Coach Meri Lyn Rogers, named Region 72-A Coach of the Year for 2003, 2004, and 2005; and
Whereas, team members Kendall Whisenhunt, Jennifer Jones, Casey Burner, Caroline Whisenhunt, Genevieve Razick, Laura Stoughton, Kristen Scaturro, Kate Davis, and Anna Patterson will carry with them always the memories of their championship season and all the lessons learned from competition. Now, therefore,
