AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 6 OF 1959, RELATING TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF SCHOOL
DISTRICT NO. 55 IN LAURENS COUNTY, SO AS TO REVISE THE ATTENDANCE AREAS IN WHICH
CERTAIN MEMBERS OF THE BOARD MUST RESIDE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Board of Trustees of School District No. 55
SECTION 1. Section 1 of Act 6 of 1959 is amended to read:
"Section 1. The board of trustees of School District No. 55 of Laurens
County must be composed of seven members, six of whom shall reside in the
following attendance areas: three in the Laurens Attendance Area, one each in
the Ford, Gray Court-Owings, and Hickory Tavern Attendance Areas, and the seventh
member must be an elector at large from the district and must be appointed by the
county board of education."
Present member to continue to serve
SECTION 2. The present member of the board of trustees of School District No.
55 in Laurens County from the Garlington Street Attendance Area shall continue
to serve until his present term of office expires at which time his successor
must be selected from the Laurens Attendance Area in the manner specified by law.
Time effective
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor. |
