A BILL
TO REQUIRE A LEGISLATOR WHO ATTENDS A LEGISLATIVE
CONFERENCE TO SUBMIT DOCUMENTED VERIFICATION OF
EXPENSES INCURRED BY HIM IN ATTENDING THE
CONFERENCE AND FOR WHICH REIMBURSEMENT IS SOUGHT.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. A member of the General Assembly who attends a
legislative conference shall submit to the presiding officer of his
legislative body documented verification of the expenses incurred by
him in attending the conference and for which the member seeks
reimbursement from the State. The verification must include the
member's affidavit to the effect that the expenses were actually incurred
by the member in connection with attending the conference and that,
according to the belief of the member, the expenses are legally
reimbursable. The member's presiding officer shall not approve the
reimbursement, and the reimbursement is not allowed, until the member
complies with the provisions of this section.
The provisions of this section are cumulative and not in lieu of any
other provision of law, regulation, or rule of the particular legislative
body involved concerning duties which may be imposed upon a member
who seeks reimbursement of incurred expenses for such a conference.
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
