A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND D.J. TRAHAN FOR HIS OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS, BOTH ON THE GOLF COURSE AND IN THE CLASSROOM, WHILE PreviousATTENDINGNext CLEMSON UNIVERSITY AND TO CONGRATULATE HIM ON WINNING THE 2002 BEN HOGAN AWARD.

Whereas, D.J. Trahan of Clemson University was presented the Ben Hogan Award on May 13, 2002, as the top collegiate golf player in the country between May 2001 and May 2002; and

Whereas, D.J. Trahan is the first Clemson player ever to win that award and the first Tiger golfer to win a national Player of the Year Award since 1998; and

Whereas, in just three short years at Clemson University, D.J. Trahan has set fifteen school records including the most wins in a season (3), the number of under par rounds in a season (25), number of top five finishes in a season (8), the career stroke average (71.71), and the career stroke average for NCAA national play (70.63); and

Whereas, D.J. Trahan has received countless honors and awards for his exceptional play while at Clemson; he was named PreviousAtlanticNext Coast Conference Freshman of the Year in 1999 and has been named first-team All-ACC during his three years at Clemson; he was also named the Player of the Year for 2000 and 2001 by the Carolinas Golf Association; and

Whereas, D.J. Trahan is a well-rounded student-PreviousathleteNext who works as hard in the classroom as he does on the links; he has a 3.22 career Grade Point Average and was named to the Verizon Academic All-District III team for 2002; and

Whereas, some of D.J. Trahan's other accomplishments include winning the South Carolina Amateur Championship in 2001, playing in the 2001 Masters after winning the 2000 United States Public Links Championship, and named the Top Amateur Player in the World according to Golf Week Magazine; and

Whereas, D.J. Trahan's hard work and determination have enabled him to achieve great things in both PreviousathleticNext and academic pursuits and have helped him become the kind of player cherished by all fans of college PreviousathleticsNext. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend D.J. Trahan for his outstanding achievements both on the golf course and in the classroom while Previousattending Clemson University and congratulate him on winning the 2002 Ben Hogan Award.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to D.J. Trahan of Clemson University.
