VERSIONS OF THIS BILL

H. 4043

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING THE SOUTH CAROLINA STATE UNIVERSITY MEN'S AND WOMEN'S TENNIS TEAMS ON WINNING THE MID-EASTERN PreviousATHLETICNext CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS AND RECOGNIZING COACH HARDEEP JUDGE WHO SWEPT THE COACH OF THE YEAR HONORS.

Whereas, the South Carolina State University Tennis Teams, which both completed undefeated Mid-Eastern PreviousAthleticNext Conference seasons, entered the MEAC Tennis Championships as the top-seeded teams; and

Whereas, entering with a 10-0 record in league games, both teams proved up to the challenge of the big dance; and

Whereas, a championship win of this magnitude takes not only the PreviousathleticNext ability and talent of each and every player but also the stamina and determination that will serve these players well throughout their lifetimes; and

Whereas, both teams were ably coached by Coach Hardeep Judge who helped instill in the players a sense of team spirit and entitlement coming into the championship game after the incredible seasons both teams enjoyed; and

Whereas, under Coach Hardeep's guidance, the men's team captured its second straight title and its fifth overall and earned a second consecutive trip to the NCAA Tennis Championship, and the women's team earned its first national ranking -- the first such ranking in tennis for the 109-year old university -- and its first-ever trip to the NCAA Tennis Championship in May; and

Whereas, the members of the championship men's team are: Dragen Bisercic, Andrew Mawire, Jiri Vasicek, Fhandi Irawam, Carlos Bonfim, Patantap Chaturvedi, Ionut Hurduc, Hrvoje Capin, Mate Prancevic, and Pete Grishchenko; and

Whereas, the members of the championship women's team are: Mirian Cruz, Milana Borisev, Vesna Popac, Gisel Brito, Alexis Panton, and Marcela Rodezno; and

Whereas, it is with great pleasure that the members of the South Carolina General Assembly pause to honor these young, talented PreviousathletesNext from South Carolina State University and their coach who was named the 2005 Outstanding Coach of both the men's and women's championships. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the South Carolina State University men's and women's tennis teams on winning the Mid-Eastern PreviousAthletic Conference championships and recognize Coach Hardeep Judge who swept the coach of the year honors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Coach Hardeep Judge on behalf of the championship teams.
