To whom was referred a House Resolution (H. 4419) to congratulate the athletes of the Georgetown County Dixie Softball Debs for their success over the eleven competing teams and for their outstanding victory, etc., respectfully

That they have duly and carefully considered the same and recommend that the same do pass:

TO CONGRATULATE THE ATHLETES OF THE GEORGETOWN COUNTY DIXIE SOFTBALL DEBS FOR THEIR SUCCESS OVER THE ELEVEN COMPETING TEAMS AND FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING VICTORY AT THE DIXIE SOFTBALL WORLD SERIES IN MARIANNA, FLORIDA.

Whereas, the Georgetown County Debs under the able direction of Coaches Pat Wildes and Nelson Brown captured the title in their division for the Dixie Softball World Series with the assistance of many talented players, not the least of whom are Cea Knox and Amber Mahaffey, both of whom pitched in the previous year's World Series competition; and

Whereas, the twelve outstanding athletes on the Georgetown County Debs scored fourteen runs to the two runs of their competitors in the final game of the World Series to secure the title in a perfect 5-0 win; and

Whereas, in the five-game series, Georgetown captured the championship by allowing only three runs from opponents but scored an impressive thirty-seven runs in those games; and

Whereas, some three thousand young people in ninety-seven towns and cities in South Carolina benefit from the Dixie Softball program at all levels; and

Whereas, founded in 1976, Dixie Softball promotes the development of strong character, a right attitude, and a sense of responsibility and citizenship in youngsters, using the game of softball as a vehicle. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, pause in their deliberations to congratulate the athletes of the Georgetown County Dixie Softball Debs for their success over the eleven competing teams and for their outstanding victory in the Dixie Softball World Series in Marianna, Florida.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Georgetown County Debs.
