 BASKETBALL TEAM ON WINNING THE CLASS AAAA STATE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

CONGRATULATING THE LAURENS HIGH SCHOOL "RAIDERS" GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM ON WINNING THE CLASS AAAA STATE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, the Laurens High School "Raiders" Girls Basketball Team captured a 57 - 46 title victory against Beaufort to capture the Class AAAA State Girls Basketball Championship; and

Whereas, scoring the first 5 points in the game, the "Raiders" jumped out to a 13 point, first-quarter lead, maintaining a substantial lead throughout; and

Whereas, clinching this title was the third state title in four years for Laurens culminating an exciting 25 - 3 season for the "Raiders" under the leadership of head coach Travis Langford; and

Whereas, these fine young women are to be commended for their countless hours of practice, dedication, and determination which clearly demonstrates their commitment to excellence and which produced an outstanding championship season; and

Whereas, the success of the "Raiders" was fostered by the loyalty and enthusiasm of the players' families, friends, and fellow students and a dedicated and supportive administration; and

Whereas, the "Raiders" Girls Basketball Team has brought great pride and recognition not only to Laurens High School and the Laurens Community but also to the Palmetto State; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly wish to publicly recognize and congratulate each player, their coaches, and supporting school officials upon this tremendous victory and the conclusion of a truly memorable season. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate the Laurens High School "Raiders" Girls Basketball Team on winning the Class AAAA State Basketball Championship.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Laurens High School "Raiders" Girls Basketball Team and their coaches.
