A CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
SALUTING WINYAH DISPENSARY, INC., ON THE
OCCASION OF ITS TWENTY-NINTH ANNIVERSARY AND
COMMENDING THE COMPANY'S FOUNDER, DR. CHARLES
F. COOPER, FOR HIS BUSINESS SUCCESS AND
CONTRIBUTIONS TO A STRONG SOUTH CAROLINA
ECONOMY.
Whereas, Charles F. Cooper, R. Ph., FASCP, was born in Andrews
and received a degree in pharmacy from the Medical University of
South Carolina College of Pharmacy; and
Whereas, Dr. Cooper has been honored as a Fellow in the American
Society of Consulting Pharmacists and is the founder, president, and
chief executive officer of Winyah Dispensary, Inc., the largest
institutional pharmacy in the Carolinas; and
Whereas, Winyah Dispensary is celebrating its twenty-ninth
anniversary this year; and
Whereas, in 1993, Winyah Dispensary was acquired by GranCare, a
New York Stock Exchange corporation; and
Whereas, in addition to his position with Winyah Dispensary, Dr.
Cooper serves as senior vice president of GranCare and
CompuPharm, its pharmacy division; in this national position, Dr.
Cooper is assisting the corporation with national expansion,
acquisitions, and the development of new diagnostic services; and
Whereas, Dr. Cooper has also been Director of pharmacy at
Georgetown Memorial Hospital since 1967 and in 1981, was
honored as "South Carolina's Hospital Pharmacist of the
Year"; in 1993, he was honored as South Carolina's first
"Health Care Entrepreneur of the Year", an award
sponsored by Inc. Magazine; also in 1993, Dr. Cooper was named
"National Institutional Pharmacist of the Year" by A/M
Group;
Whereas, Dr. Cooper is a dynamic individual and a distinguished
South Carolinian, and the members of the General Assembly are
greatly pleased to recognize him and Winyah Dispensary, Inc., in
this special manner. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate
concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this
resolution, salutes Winyah Dispensary, Inc., on the occasion of its
twenty-ninth anniversary and commends the company's founder,
Dr. Charles F. Cooper, for his business success and contributions to
a strong South Carolina economy.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to
Dr. Cooper.
