A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

COMMENDING JAMES B. HARDY, III, FOR HIS OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO PUBLIC EDUCATION AND WISHING HIM MUCH HAPPINESS FOLLOWING HIS RETIREMENT AS PRINCIPAL OF VIRGINIA PACK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN COLUMBIA.

Whereas, James B. Hardy, III, was born in Mobile, Alabama, and attended Williamson Elementary School and Central High School in that city; and

Whereas, he attended Tuskegee University, Temple University, and the University of South Carolina; and

Whereas, he was a teacher and business manager at Fairwold Junior High School in Columbia, served as administrative assistant at Booker T. Washington High School in Columbia, was assistant principal at Columbia's Alcorn Middle School, and has been principal of McCants Elementary School, Hopkins Elementary School, Greenview Elementary School, W.G. Sanders Middle School, and Virginia Pack Elementary School, all in Columbia; and

Whereas, he has held numerous prestigious leadership positions, has been very active in Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, and is listed in Who's Who in the South and Southwest, 16th Edition; and

Whereas, he is highly regarded as a professional educator and administrator and has had a distinguished career in public education; and

Whereas, he is retiring as principal of Virginia Pack Elementary School in June, 1995; and

Whereas, his talent, abilities, dedication, and hard work and his devotion to public education merit special recognition. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commends James B. Hardy, III, for his outstanding service to public education and wishes him much happiness following his retirement as principal of Virginia Pack Elementary School in Columbia.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Hardy.
