Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are deeply saddened
to learn of the death of Mrs. Eleanor Metts Mundy, on Saturday, May

was the daughter of the late Joseph and Nettie Pinson Metts; and
Whereas, she was educated in the Greenwood County Public Schools
and was a graduate of Newberry College; and

Mundy, the Publisher of the Index-Journal who died in 1982, and the
mother of Judith M. (Judi) Burns, President and Chief Executive
Officer of the Index-Journal; and
Whereas, survivors in addition to Judi (Mrs. James C. Burns III),
include three granddaughters, Alison Burns and St. Claire Burns,
both of Greenwood, and Mundy Burns of Columbia; and a
great-grandchild, Chandler Burns of Greenwood; and
Whereas, this sweet and beautiful woman was a devoted member of
First Baptist Church and the Benson Sunday School Class. She was
also a member of the Azalea Garden Club, the McKissick Study
Club, and formerly served on the Lander University Board of Visitors
and the Erskine Board of Counselors; and
Whereas, it can be said truthfully that the world, and especially
Greenwood, is a much better place today for the life of Mrs. Eleanor

a lady whose presence will be missed greatly; and

know that they are uppermost in our thoughts and prayers during this
difficult time; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly express appreciation
for Mrs. Eleanor Metts Mundy's life and the many contributions she
gave to Greenwood County and the Palmetto State. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate
