 HIS FIFTY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING, DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS OF ALLENDALE
 COUNTY AND THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY.

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE DR. HENRY LUCIUS LAFFITTE OF ALLENDALE FOR HIS FIFTY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING, DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS OF ALLENDALE COUNTY AND THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY.

Whereas, Dr. Henry Lucius Laffitte of Allendale was born in Estill in 1923 to the late M. Tucker and Elizabeth Lucius Laffitte; and

Whereas, after graduating from the University of South Carolina in 1944 and the Medical University of South Carolina in 1947, Dr. Laffitte began practicing medicine in Allendale County in 1948; and

Whereas, in 1949 he married Ann Cassels of Allendale, and they were blessed with four children; and

Whereas, Dr. Laffitte has been on the medical staff of the Allendale County Hospital since it opened in 1950, and he has served as the Chief of Staff for several terms; and

Whereas, throughout his medical career, Dr. Laffitte has received numerous awards for his devoted and dedicated service to the citizens of Allendale County; and

Whereas, among his numerous awards, he received the Allendale County March of Dimes Service to Humanity Award in 1983 for delivering more than three thousand babies in Allendale County since beginning his practice, and in 1987 the South Carolina Chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians named Dr. Laffitte the Family Physician of the Year; and

Whereas, Dr. Laffitte has been a member of the South Carolina State Department of Vocational Rehabilitation since its inception in 1957; the department awarded him with a Citation for Meritorious Service, Loyalty, and Devotion to the Cause of Handicapped Citizens, dedicated its staff development room in his honor; and honored him by naming its new building in Beaufort, the H. Lucius Laffitte Building; and

Whereas, Dr. Laffitte has been an active member and deacon in the First Baptist Church of Allendale and for decades has been a leader in the community bettering the lives and health of the citizens of Allendale County; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize Dr. Henry Lucius Laffitte, an exemplary citizen and outstanding medical doctor. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize Dr. Henry Lucuis Laffitte of Allendale for his fifty years of outstanding, dedicated service to the citizens of Allendale County and the medical community.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Henry Lucius Laffitte.
