A HOUSE RESOLUTION TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE MR. JOHNATHAN MOULTRIE OF
GEORGETOWN FOR HIS MANY ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND YEARS OF DEVOTED SERVICE AS AN
EDUCATOR, AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES TO HIM AND HIS FAMILY ON THE OCCASION OF
HIS RETIREMENT.

A HOUSE RESOLUTION
TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE MR. JOHNATHAN
MOULTRIE OF GEORGETOWN FOR HIS MANY
ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND YEARS OF DEVOTED SERVICE
AS AN EDUCATOR, AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES TO HIM
AND HIS FAMILY ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT.
Whereas, Mr. Johnathan Moultrie was born in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania on November 23, 1943, the son of Morris Moultrie and
Mattie Keith; and
Whereas, Mr. Moultrie received a B.A. degree in education from
Benedict College in 1970, a master's degree in education
administration from The Citadel in 1975, and has engaged in further
studies over the years to improve his skills as an educator at the
University of South Carolina, Coastal Carolina University, and at The
Citadel; and
Whereas, beginning as a teacher at Plantersville Elementary School
in 1970, Mr. Moultrie's career as an educator carried him through
successive positions as Assistant Principal of Andrews High School,
Principal of Choppee Middle School, Director of Secondary
Education for Georgetown School District, Principal of Georgetown
High School, Assistant Superintendent for Administration for
Georgetown School District, and Deputy Superintendent of the
Georgetown School District, his present position from which he is
scheduled to retire; and
Whereas, Mr. Moultrie's many accomplishments as an educator
include consolidating Howard High School, and Winyah High School
into Georgetown High School, creating Choppee Middle School,
standardizing the operation of all the high and middle schools in the
Georgetown County School District, successfully taking Georgetown
High School through its first Southern Association of Colleges and
Schools evaluation, expanding the advance placement programs at
Georgetown High School, serving on the Defined Minimum Program
Committee for the State Department of Education, becoming a
certified Assessor for the State Department of Education, and serving
on the task force that implemented the State's Teacher Evaluation
System; and
Whereas, in addition to service and membership in the state
associations for Secondary School Principals, Middle School
Principals, School Curriculum Development, and School
Superintendents, Mr. Moultrie's professional activities include
Program for Effective Training (PET) Trainer, certified by the South
Carolina Department of Education, Assessor Trainer, for the State
Department of Education, member of Executive Committee, South
Carolina Association of Secondary Principals (1987 to 1990),
member of State Committee, Southern Association of Colleges and
Schools (1990 to present), chaired the SACS Committee for
Kingstree Junior High School, chaired the five year SACS
Committee for Terrells Bay High School, committee member on four
SACS Teams, member of Executive Committee, and the South
Carolina Superintendents' Association (1996 to present); and
Whereas, in service to his community Mr. Moultrie is a member of
the International Paper Company Community Advisory Board, and
of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, a former member of Georgetown Rotary
Breakfast Club, and of the Federal Government Selective Service
Board, and is a faithful member of the St. Stephens A.M.E. Church;
and
Whereas, Mr. Moultrie is slated to retire after many years of service
as an educator, and it is altogether fitting and proper that the
members of the House of Representatives recognize the outstanding
contributions of this exemplary citizen and educator to his students,
to the schools of his community, and to his State, and to extent best
wishes to him, his lovely wife Lil, and their family on the occasion
of his retirement. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives hereby commend
and congratulate Mr. Johnathan Moultrie of Georgetown for his many
accomplishments, and years of devoted service as an educator, and
to extend best wishes to him and his family on the occasion of his
retirement.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to
Mr. Johnathan Moultrie of Georgetown.
