A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
TO HONOR MRS. ELLA YON STEVENSON OF NORTH, SOUTH CAROLINA, UPON THE OCCASION OF HER ONE-HUNDREDTH BIRTHDAY ON MARCH 17, 1999.
Whereas, Mrs. Ella Yon Stevenson was born on March 17, 1899, in the town of Norway in Orangeburg County, South Carolina; and
Whereas, Mrs. Stevenson is the daughter of the late Glen and Henrietta G. Yon; and
Whereas, Mrs. Stevenson attended Norway public schools; and
Whereas, Mrs. Stevenson joined Bushy Pond Baptist Church of Norway at a very early age, sang in the choir as long as her health permitted; and talks often of her church and her community, both of which she loves dearly; and
Whereas, she and her late husband, George W. Stevenson, had six children: four sons, George Jr., James, Arthur and Levern (all deceased); and two daughters, Clara Mae Stevenson Pough and Reather Bell Stevenson Pough; and
Whereas, Mrs. Stevenson resides with her daughter Reather Bell in North, South Carolina; and
Whereas, Mrs. Stevenson has 34 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and 48 great-great-grandchildren. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly recognize the one-hundredth birthday of Mrs. Ella Yon Stevenson this month and honor her for her long life as a fine citizen of the great State of South Carolina.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to
Mrs. Ella Yon Stevenson.
