 A SENATE RESOLUTION TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH
 CAROLINA SENATE UPON THE DEATH OF MR. JOHN DANIEL ALEXANDER ELLISOR OF
 LEXINGTON COUNTY AND TO EXTEND THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY
 FRIENDS.

A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE UPON THE DEATH OF MR. JOHN DANIEL ALEXANDER ELLISOR OF LEXINGTON COUNTY AND TO EXTEND THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the Senate were saddened to learn that Mr. John Daniel Alexander Ellisor passed away on Thursday, March 4, 1999, at the age of eighty-five; and

Whereas, he was born in Cayce, South Carolina, and was the son of the late Paul Washington and Lovelady Harsey Ellisor; and

Whereas, surviving are his wife, Christabell Ott Ellisor of Cayce and his daughters, Shirley Duffield of Columbia, Johnnie Rae Hunter of Cayce, and Billie Jackson of Lexington; and

Whereas, for over forty-five years Mr. Ellisor was an active member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Columbia and the Men's Bible Class. He formed a committee which founded the Archives and brought the history of Main Street United Methodist Church to life. A Mason and Shriner, he was a member of the Cayce Masonic Lodge, No. 384 AFM and the Jamil Temple. He was a member of the Cayce-West Columbia Optimist Club and the Ruritan Club; and

Whereas, Mr. Ellisor was a honorary member of the South Carolina Sheriff's Association and served on the Cayce City Council. He was the former owner of E & S Construction in Cayce and served as the first Building Commissioner of Lexington County; and

Whereas, a lifetime resident of Cayce, he was a registered scouter with Indian Waters Council of the Boy Scouts of America for over sixty years. He helped develop Camp Barstow and was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award; and

Whereas, during the past decade Mr. Ellisor received many awards and citations from the City of Cayce, the South Carolina House of Representatives, the South Carolina Senate, the past two South Carolina Governors, and the President of the United States of America. His most coveted award was the Order of the Palmetto, which he received in 1996 for his outstanding service in the community of Cayce and the State of South Carolina; and

Whereas, Mr. Ellisor will long be admired by the many people whose lives were touched by his tender, caring manner of life for all; and

Whereas, Mr. Ellisor's death represents a tremendous loss to Lexington County, and in truth, the State of South Carolina, and we want the members of his family and many friends to know that they are in our uppermost thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, express profound sorrow upon the death of Mr. John Daniel Alexander Ellisor of Lexington County and extend their deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Mr. John Daniel Alexander Ellisor.
