 SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF SOUTH CAROLINA AND GREENWOOD COUNTY AS A SUMMARY
 COURT JUDGE, TO CONGRATULATE HIM ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AS A
 SUMMARY COURT JUDGE, AND TO EXTEND THE BEST WISHES OF THE MEMBERS OF THE
 SENATE TO HIM ON ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND THE HONORABLE THOMAS WALTER "T. W." WILLIAMS FOR HIS EXEMPLARY CAREER AS AN EDUCATOR AND FOR TEN YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE OF SOUTH CAROLINA AND GREENWOOD COUNTY AS A SUMMARY COURT JUDGE, TO CONGRATULATE HIM ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AS A SUMMARY COURT JUDGE, AND TO EXTEND THE BEST WISHES OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE TO HIM ON ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, the Honorable Thomas Walter "T.W." Williams was born on December 13, 1931, in Callison, Greenwood County, the son of Frances Williams; and

Whereas, Judge Williams attended Brewer High School in Greenwood, South Carolina, and graduated from Brewer High School in 1951; and

Whereas, following high school, Judge Williams continued his education at A&T University, Greensboro, North Carolina, where he graduated in 1955 with a B.A. in Education and Social Services; and

Whereas, Judge Williams continued his post-graduate education and graduated from South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, with a M.S. degree in Education, and he later obtained his E.D.S. from Clemson University; and

Whereas, Judge Williams served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1958 and received an honorable discharge. Upon completion of his military service Judge Williams married Olivia Edwards Williams on June 7, 1958; and

Whereas, following his military service Judge Williams entered upon a distinguished career as an educator with Greenwood School District No. 50 that spanned thirty-one years, from 1958 to 1989, as a highly respected teacher, counselor, and principal; and

Whereas, following his many years as an educator, Judge Williams was appointed by Governor Carroll A. Campbell, with the advice and consent of the Senate, to serve as magistrate and summary court judge for Greenwood County; and

Whereas, after ten years of outstanding service as a summary court judge for Greenwood County, Judge Williams is slated to retire on June 30, 1999. Now therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, commend the Honorable Thomas Walter "T. W." Williams for his exemplary career as an educator and for his ten years of outstanding service to the people of South Carolina and Greenwood as a summary court judge, congratulate him on the occasion of his retirement as a summary court judge, and extend the best wishes of the members of the Senate to Judge Williams on all his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Honorable Thomas Walter "T. W." Williams of Greenwood.
