 SERVICE AS CLEMSON UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT DURING THE PAST FOUR YEARS, AND
 WISHING HIM AND HIS FAMILY WELL AS HE LEAVES CLEMSON UNIVERSITY TO BECOME THE
 PRESIDENT OF THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF STATE COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES.

A SENATE RESOLUTION

COMMENDING DR. CONSTANTINE W. CURRIS FOR HIS EXEMPLARY SERVICE AS CLEMSON UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT DURING THE PAST FOUR YEARS, AND WISHING HIM AND HIS FAMILY WELL AS HE LEAVES CLEMSON UNIVERSITY TO BECOME THE PRESIDENT OF THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF STATE COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES.

Whereas, Dr. Constantine W. Curris was born in Lexington, Kentucky, is married to Jo Hern Curris, and together they are the proud parents of a son and a daughter; and

Whereas, he received his Bachelors Degree in political science from the University of Kentucky, his Masters Degree in political science and public administration from the University of Illinois, and his Doctorate Degree in higher education from the University of Kentucky; and

Whereas, prior to becoming President of Clemson University, Dr. Curris served as President of the University of Northern Iowa for twelve years and earlier as president of Murray State University in Kentucky for ten years; and

Whereas, Murray State University's student center was named in his honor, and the University of Northern Iowa's building that houses its College of Business was named in is honor; and

Whereas, since assuming the Presidency of Clemson University in May, 1995, Dr. Curris has distinguished himself as a member of the South Carolina Research Authority, the South Carolina Forestry Commission, and as one of twenty-three university presidents on the Kellogg Commission on the Future of State and Land-Grant Universities; and

Whereas, it is with regret that the members of the South Carolina Senate have been informed that Dr. Curris will be leaving Clemson University this fall to become President of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities; and

Whereas, the members of the Senate would like to publicly thank Dr. Curris for his exemplary service as President of Clemson University. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, commend Dr. Constantine W. Curris for his exemplary service as Clemson University President during the past four years, and wish him and his family well as he leaves Clemson University to become the President of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Constantine W. Curris.
