 FLORENCE COUNTY FOR HIS 20 YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO THE SENATE AND
 THE PEOPLE OF SOUTH CAROLINA.

A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE SENATOR HUGH KENNETH LEATHERMAN, SR. OF FLORENCE COUNTY FOR HIS 20 YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO THE SENATE AND THE PEOPLE OF SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, Senator Hugh Kenneth Leatherman, Sr. has served the people of the Pee Dee in the South Carolina Senate for 20 years, rising to the rank of seventh in seniority, and represents a district that includes Florence County and parts of Darlington, Chesterfield, and Marlboro counties; and

Whereas, Senator Leatherman was born in Lincoln County, North Carolina on April 14, 1931, a son of John B. and Ada Gantt Leatherman; and

Whereas, Senator Leatherman is married to the former Jean Helms and is the father of six children; and

Whereas, Senator Leatherman holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from North Carolina State University and an honorary doctorate from Francis Marion University; and

Whereas, he is the managing partner of WyBoo Investments and the president of Leacon, Inc; and

Whereas, he is active in the community, serving as a deacon at First Baptist Church, a member of the Clemson University President's Advisory Council, the chairman of the Clemson University College of Engineering and Science Advisory Board, a member emeritus of the Francis Marion University Board of Trustees, a member of the Florence Rotary Club, past president of the Florence Optimist Club, the Pee Dee Technical Society and the Florence Toastmasters Club, and a member of organizations too numerous to list; and

Whereas, Senator Leatherman has served in many leadership roles in the Senate, serving as Chairman of the Republican Caucus, Chairman of the Senate Ethics Committee, Vice-Chairman of the Senate Banking and Insurance Committee and Vice-Chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee, and also as a member of the Senate Finance Committee, the Senate Fish, Game and Forestry Committee, the Senate Interstate Cooperation Committee, the Senate Labor, Commerce and Industry Committee, and the State House Committee. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate congratulate Senator Leatherman on his 20 years of service to the Senate and the people of South Carolina and wish him continued success.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Senator Hugh Kenneth Leatherman, Sr.
