A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
SALUTING WAYNE WILSON OF LEXINGTON COUNTY FOR HIS TWENTY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING, DEDICATED SERVICE AS POLICE CHIEF OF THE TOWN OF SOUTH CONGAREE.
Whereas, David Wayne Wilson was born in Ridgeway, the youngest of eleven children; and
Whereas, he is a past member of the South Congaree Town Council and a past volunteer firefighter for the South Congaree Fire Department; and
Whereas, Chief Wilson started his career as a part-time officer for the South Congaree Police Department in 1971 and later served as a deputy for the Lexington County Sheriff's Department from 1976 to 1980; and
Whereas, he was sworn in as Chief of Police for the Town of South Congaree on May 1, 1980; and
Whereas, he is a charter member of the South Congaree chapter of United Neighbors of America; through this fine organization, he delivers food to the elderly and needy every Thanksgiving and Christmas; and
Whereas, he is highly respected and admired in the law enforcement profession and has always endeavored to assist the community in every way possible; and
Whereas, we are delighted to have the opportunity to recognize such an outstanding individual in this special manner. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, salutes Wayne Wilson of Lexington County for his twenty years of outstanding, dedicated service as Police Chief of the Town of South Congaree.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Chief Wayne Wilson.
