 COUNTY UPON THE CELEBRATION OF HIS THIRTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY AS PASTOR OF MOUNT
 ZION BAPTIST CHURCH IN FORT MOTTE, SOUTH CAROLINA.

TO COMMEND AND HONOR REVEREND J. A. WILLIAMS OF COLLETON COUNTY UPON THE CELEBRATION OF HIS THIRTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY AS PASTOR OF MOUNT ZION BAPTIST CHURCH IN FORT MOTTE, SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, the South Carolina State Senate is pleased to learn of Reverend Williams' service to Mount Zion Baptist Church which he has provided for thirty-five years and for all the additional good works performed by this honorable servant; and

Whereas, the Reverend J. A. Williams was born in Colleton County, South Carolina. He is the husband of Mrs. Deloris W. Williams and the father of four children; and

Whereas, Reverend Williams received his theological training in the School of Religion at Morris College and did further study at Moody's Bible Institute, Chicago, Illinois and Columbia Bible College, Columbia, South Carolina; and

Whereas, Reverend Williams was called to the ministry in 1945, ordained in 1947, and began pastoring in 1947. He has served as Pastor at St. James Baptist, Wiggins, South Carolina, St. Paul Baptist, Charleston, South Carolina, and is currently serving Grover Memorial, Browntown Community, Hendersonville, South Carolina, and Mt. Zion Baptist, Fort Motte, South Carolina; and

Whereas, Reverend Williams was one of the first charter members of and founder of the Calhoun County Interracial Community Relation Organization, Inc., and The Coalition Leaders of Colleton County. He is also President of the Colleton County Ministerial Alliance and a member of Colleton County Progress Through Planning Organization; and

Whereas, upon the thirty-fifth anniversary of Reverend Williams' serving as Pastor for Mount Zion Baptist Church, the South Carolina State Senate finds it befitting to pause in their deliberations to honor and recognize the achievements of this fine man. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina State Senate, by this resolution, commend and honor Reverend J. A. Williams of Colleton County upon the celebration of his thirty-fifth anniversary as Pastor of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Fort Motte, South Carolina.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Reverend J. A. Williams of Colleton County.
