 SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY UPON THE DEATH OF MRS. JANE WYCHE CRAFT OF
 MANNING, AND EXTEND DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY UPON THE DEATH OF MRS. JANE WYCHE CRAFT OF MANNING, AND EXTEND DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were extremely saddened by the death of Mrs. Jane Wyche Craft of Manning, who passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2001, at her home at the age of seventy-two; and

Whereas, Mrs. Craft was born December 7, 1928, in Asheville, North Carolina, to the late Thomas Troy Wyche and Lucille Brown Wyche, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro and a Master of Arts degree in Teaching in Math from The Citadel; and

Whereas, she was a school teacher in Greensboro, North Carolina, Orangeburg, and Andrews, before teaching in Clarendon School District 2 for twenty-six years, where she served as chairwoman of the Manning High School mathmatics department and was named to the Clarendon School District 2 Hall of Fame in 1997; and

Whereas, Mrs. Craft was nominated for the National Presidents Award for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching, was the past president of Iota Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, an honorary Women Teacher's Society member, and served as Alpha Eta State Delta Kappa Gamma secretary; and

Whereas, Mrs. Craft's activity will be greatly missed in the Manning Methodist Church, where she was a circle leader, past chairwoman of Higher Education, past member of the Council of Ministries, former secretary of the Administrative Board, president of the United Methodist Women, and a former Sunday school teacher; and

Whereas, the General Assembly extends its sympathy to the family of Mrs. Jane Wyche Craft: her husband, Archie Charles Craft, Sr.; a son and daughter-in-law, Archie Charles Craft III and Manita Burns Craft, of Chapin; a daughter and son-in-law, Martha Charles Craft-Essig and Mark Essig, of Johns Island; grandchildren, Lawrence Charles Craft and Archie Craft; and a great-grandchild, Charles Craft IV. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the death of Mrs. Jane Wyche Craft of Manning, and extend deepest sympathy to her family and friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Mrs. Jane Wyche Craft.
