A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND HARRY C. "BUNT" WILSON, JR., OF SUMTER, FOR HIS SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF THE LEGISLATIVE AUDIT COUNCIL FROM MAY 10, 1995 TO JUNE 30, 2001, AND TO RECOGNIZE THAT DURING HIS TERM ON THE COUNCIL, THIRTY-EIGHT AUDITS WERE PUBLISHED AND THE COUNCIL RECEIVED NATIONAL AWARDS FOR ITS WORK.

Whereas, Harry C. "Bunt" Wilson, Jr., was born and raised in Mayesville, attended public schools in Sumter, graduated from Wofford College with a B.A. in history, and from the South Carolina School of Law in 1971; and

Whereas, Bunt served as an assistant public defender and, later, as an assistant solicitor before he joined a private law firm in 1975. He is a partner in the firm of Lee, Wilson, and Erter in Sumter; and

Whereas, Bunt has been a member of the Sumter Rotary Club for over twenty years and he served as its president in 1991-1992. He is a member of the Sumter Fine Arts Council, Sumter Little Theater, Sumter Gallery of Art, and the South Carolina Bar Board of Governors; and

Whereas, in the Spring of 1995, the General Assembly elected Bunt Wilson to the Legislative Audit Council. During the past six years, he has overseen the staff and work of the Council publishing thirty-eight audits of state agencies. During this tenure, the Council earned, from the National Conference of State Legislature's National Legislative Program Evaluation Society, an impact award for its audit on "Auto Insurance in South Carolina", and an award for "A Management Review of the Department of Natural Resources"; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives is extremely grateful to have citizens like Bunt Wilson who sacrifice their time and contribute to the public good by serving in important positions such as on the Legislative Audit Council. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, commend Harry C. "Bunt" Wilson, Jr., of Sumter, for his service as a member of the Legislative Audit Council from May 10, 1995 to June 30, 2001, and recognize that during his term on the Council, thirty-eight audits were published and the Council received national awards for its work.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Harry C. "Bunt" Wilson, Jr.
