A HOUSE RESOLUTION
TO COMMEND MRS. JACQUELINE LANDIS HAYMOND FOR HER MANY ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND REMARKABLE APPROACH TO LIFE AND TO CONGRATULATE HER ON HER REIGN AS MS. SOUTH CAROLINA SENIOR 2001.
Whereas, Jacqueline Landis Haymond was recognized for her talent, beauty, and positive outlook on life at the age of sixty-eight as she was crowned Ms. South Carolina Senior 2001 on March 4, 2001; and
Whereas, Jacqueline Haymond has had a distinguished career as a university professor and is now a personal coach and motivational speaker who encourages others to find happiness by developing a personal plan that involves "choosing new pathways" to a better life; and
Whereas, Jacqueline Haymond was born in Ninety-Six and graduated from Greenwood High School. She attended the University of South Carolina and the University of New Mexico and earned her bachelor of science degree in business education at Erskine College. When she was forty-five, Jacqueline Haymond received her master's degree and at age fifty-two earned her Ph.D. in forest resources from Clemson University; and
Whereas, Mrs. Haymond did extensive work and research while at Clemson; she directed graduate students, taught public relations and communications classes, published more than fifty articles, and made more than ninety presentations to audiences of all ages; and
Whereas, the Ms. South Carolina Senior Pageant is the first state pageant to recognize women age sixty and older and is a search for the woman who, with her dignity, maturity, and inner beauty, best represents the women of South Carolina; the pageant was held at Winthrop University in Rock Hill; and
Whereas, the pageant contestants take part in an interview session, a talent competition, and an evening gown competition; a panel of certified judges select the winner who competes for the title of 2002 American Classic Woman Queen; and
Whereas, Jacqueline Haymond continues to live an extraordinary life full of adventure, excitement, and hard work, and she is inspiring people of all ages to live with the same flare. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, commend Mrs. Jacqueline Landis Haymond for her many accomplishments and remarkable approach to life and congratulate her on her reign as Ms. South Carolina Senior 2001.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Jacqueline Haymond of the Epworth Community.
