A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO CELEBRATE THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF REVEREND JAMES AUSTIN WILLIAMS, PASTOR OF MOUNT ZION MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH IN FORT MOTTE AND GROVER MEMORIAL BAPTIST CHURCH IN HENDERSONVILLE, AND TO EXPRESS APPRECIATION FOR HIS LEADERSHIP, GUIDANCE, AND DEDICATION.

Whereas, the Reverend James Austin Williams was born in Colleton County to the late Reverend and Sister Grover C. Williams, Sr.; and

Whereas, Reverend Williams received his theological training in the School of Religion at Morris College in Sumter, Moody's Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois, and Columbia Bible College in Columbia and was ordained in 1947; and

Whereas, as an ordained minister, Reverend Williams has served several churches across the State of South Carolina and currently pastors Grover Memorial Baptist Church in Hendersonville and Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Motte; and

Whereas, in addition to his pastoral involvement, Reverend Williams has dedicated his time and abilities to countless boards and committees including founding the J.A. Williams Ensemble and the Progressive Union Mass Choir, organized twenty-seven years ago; and

Whereas, Reverend Williams has used his influence in positive ways to organize the Calhoun County Inter-Racial Community Relation Organization and a fire station and after-school program in Colleton County; and

Whereas, as involved in his community as he has been, Reverend Williams always has time for his family. He is married to Mrs. Deloris W. Williams and is the loving father of three sons and one daughter; and

Whereas, as a shepherd, mentor, and confidante, Reverend James Austin Williams is truly a unique individual who selflessly and often anonymously gives to others, and for this he has received numerous awards and deserves much recognition. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, celebrate the accomplishments of Reverend James Austin Williams, Pastor of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Motte and Grover Memorial Baptist Church in Hendersonville, and express appreciation for his leadership, guidance, and dedication.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Reverend James Austin Williams.
