A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE DEATH OF MANSON MOSES OF LEE COUNTY AND TO CONVEY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives were deeply saddened by the death of Manson Moses of Lee County, on Tuesday, February 17, 2004, and his kind heart and loving ways will be sorely missed by his family and many friends; and

Whereas, the son of the late Mr. Gadson Moses and Mrs. Nora Franklin Moses, Manson Moses was born on June 28, 1915, in Lee County, where he was educated within the public school system and was a lifelong member of the St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church in Bishopville; and

Whereas, working within the St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church, Mr. Moses served as a member of the Senior Choir, the Steward Board, the Sunday School Department, and a Class Leader, and was also a member of the Mason Lodge Number 357, Liberty Hill; and

Whereas, married to the late Mrs. Lizzie James Moses, Manson Moses is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Lillie Mae Reed of New York, Mrs. Nancy Leola Charles and her husband, David, of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Aldenia Moses of Bishopville, and Mrs. Cleo Johnson and her husband, Joseph, of Sumter, and several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives would like to extend their sincere condolences to his children and to the remainder of his family and friends, upon the death of this truly fine man. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the death of Manson Moses, of Lee County and convey deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Manson Moses.
