AND MANY FRIENDS.

A SENATE RESOLUTION
EXPRESSING SORROW AT THE DEATH OF MR. DOLPHIS "JACKIE" HALL OF LEXINGTON COUNTY, AND EXTENDING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO MR. HALL'S FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, Mr. Dolphis "Jackie" Hall of Lexington County died on April 17, 2000, at the age of eighty-seven; and
Whereas, Mr. Hall was born in Lexington County and attended the public schools of that county; at an early age he joined Bethel Methodist Church (now New Light United Methodist Church), where he had served as a trustee and Sunday School teacher; he was a member of the Jericho Lodge No. 74 in Swansea, was a retired farmer, and enjoyed caring for horses in his leisure time; and
Whereas, he was very active in community and civic matters; he served as an assistant school board trustee of District Four in Lexington County and was a key member of that district's school integration movement; he was also a member of the NAACP, serving as one of the original members of the First Branch of the Swansea Chapter of that association; and
Whereas, in 1932, Mr. Hall married Miss Inez Rumph, his loving wife of sixty-seven years, and to this blessed union were born nine children; and
Whereas, Jackie Hall was a pillar of his community; he was respected and admired by all who knew him; he was devoted to his family and to the church and will be greatly missed. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, express sorrow at the death of Mr. Dolphis "Jackie" Hall of Lexington County and extend deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Hall's family.
