A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND PAY TRIBUTE TO FRANCES LANDRUM WEATHERS AS SHE HONORS HER FAMILY'S HERITAGE AND CELEBRATES HER 80TH BIRTHDAY ON MARCH 20, 2005.

Whereas, the town of Landrum, South Carolina was named for John Gill Landrum; and

Whereas, Frances L. Weathers is the oldest direct descendent of John Gill Landrum; and

Whereas, Frances Landrum Weathers has chosen to celebrate her 80th birthday in her hometown of Landrum, South Carolina; and

Whereas, Mrs. Weathers has devoted over thirty years to improve the quality of both written and spoken English in this State; and

Whereas, Frances Weathers was married to Lawrence M. Weathers of Bowman in 1948 in the same room of her Landrum family home in which she was born; and

Whereas, Frances Weathers grew up in Landrum where she was a member of the two hundred year old Landrum First Baptist Church and later changed her membership to the Bowman Southern Methodist Church in 1948; and

Whereas, she graduated from Furman University in 1945; and

Whereas, Mrs. Weathers is the proud mother of Lawrence L. Weathers and, newly appointed Agriculture Commissioner, Hugh E. Weathers of Bowman, South Carolina, Virginia E. Weathers of Monterey, California, and John M. Weathers of Townville, South Carolina; and

Whereas, Frances Landrum Weathers enjoys writing and family genealogy. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and pay tribute to Frances Landrum Weathers as she honors her family's heritage and celebrates her 80th birthday on March 20, 2005.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Frances Landrum Weathers.
