 LEADERS, UPON HIS RECEIPT OF THE FIRST "HEART OF LEXINGTON ONE" AWARD
 PRESENTED BY THE LEXINGTON SCHOOL DISTRICT ONE EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION.

TO COMMEND MR. RAYMOND S. CAUGHMAN OF LEXINGTON, ONE OF SOUTH CAROLINA'S MOST RESPECTED BUSINESS, CIVIC, EDUCATIONAL, AND CHURCH LEADERS, UPON HIS RECEIPT OF THE FIRST "HEART OF LEXINGTON ONE" AWARD PRESENTED BY THE LEXINGTON SCHOOL DISTRICT ONE EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are pleased and proud to learn that Mr. Raymond S. Caughman of Lexington will be honored with the first "Heart of Lexington One" award by the the Lexington School District One Educational Foundation on January 17, 2008; and

Whereas, Raymond Caughman is one of Lexington County's and the State of South Carolina's most respected business, civic, educational, and church leaders; and

Whereas, he has tirelessly given of his time and resources to his God, family, community, and State; and

Whereas, Mr. Caughman is widely known as the retired chairman, president, and chief executive officer of the Lexington State Bank, and his numerous other business and civic endeavors and board memberships rank him as one of South Carolina's greatest leaders; and

Whereas, his success in business has afforded him the opportunity to greatly contribute time, talent, and financial resources to many needy and worthwhile causes, including efforts to improve the educational system of South Carolina and especially the educational system of his native Lexington County; and

Whereas, Raymond Caughman was born in Lexington and was educated in the Lexington public schools, graduating in 1944 during World War II; and

Whereas, he was elected to the board of Lexington County School District One in 1967 and served on the board with great distinction until 1972. He also has served as an adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina College of Business Administration among his many educational activities; and

Whereas, he is a loving and faithful husband to his lovely wife, Lib, and proud father of three outstanding children and four delightful grandchildren to whom he is deeply devoted, and who will benefit from what he has done to further education in Lexington County; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly would like to publicly recognize and thank this truly wonderful man for all his work in many capacities for the betterment of his community, state, and fellowman, and especially for the betterment of the school children of Lexington, upon the occasion of his receipt of the first "Heart of Lexington One" award from the Lexington School District One Educational Foundation. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly commend Mr. Raymond S. Caughman of Lexington, one of South Carolina's most respected business, civic, educational, and church leaders upon his receipt of the first "Heart of Lexington One" award presented by the Lexington School District One Educational Foundation.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Caughman.
