H. 3953
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
TO EXTEND CONGRATULATIONS TO WILLIAM AND EARLENE HENDERSON OF HARTSVILLE ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR 50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY ON JUNE 21, 2003, AND TO WISH THEM MANY YEARS OF CONTINUED HAPPINESS.
Whereas, the marriage of two people is special in the lives of the individuals and in the lives of their family and friends; and
Whereas, couples that remain committed to each other and to the vows that they make are pleasant reminders of the importance of love and family in today's society and are inspirations to those who surround them; and
Whereas, William Keith Henderson, born in Ottawa, Kansas, and Earlene Windham Henderson, born in Lynchburg, South Carolina, were united in marriage on June 21, 1953, at Lynchburg Baptist Church in Lynchburg and now reside in Hartsville; and
Whereas, William, a graduate of Ashwood High School in Bishopville, was employed by Sonoco Products Company for many years, supporting his wife and family through hard work and determination and later opened Henderson Supply Company, now Henderson Ace Hardware, in Hartsville; and
Whereas, Earlene, a graduate of Lynchburg High School in Lynchburg, had the rewarding job of homemaker and mother until her husband opened Henderson Supply Company. At that time she became the bookkeeper for the family business and still holds that position for Henderson Ace Hardware; and
Whereas, although they worked diligently in their professional lives, William and Earlene gave of their time and devotion in raising three successful and loving children, Karen Baughman, Eldon Henderson, and Wanda Hodge, and are the proud grandparents of seven; and
Whereas, the love and respect that this couple have for one another has brought them much joy and has seen them through life's trying times. Today, whether it's working side-by-side or sharing in the simple pleasures of fishing on their houseboat in Santee, William and Earlene find great comfort and contentment in each other's company; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize this wonderful couple and to pay tribute to their fifty years of life together. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, extend their congratulations to William and Earlene Henderson of Hartsville on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary on June 21, 2003, and wish them many years of continued happiness.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to William and Earlene Henderson of Hartsville.
