02/05/92 House Introduced, adopted, returned with concurrence HJ-1
A CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
TO COMMEND MISS ANISA KINTZ OF HORRY COUNTY FOR
HER OUTSTANDING EFFORTS TO ATTACK RACISM AND TO
EDUCATE OTHER CHILDREN AND ADULTS.
Whereas, Anisa Kintz of Horry County with ten of her friends organized
the first conference on racism specifically designed for children in
grades third through eighth entitled "Calling All Colors";
and
Whereas, this four foot tall, blonde, blue-eyed nine-year-old honor
student was born in Nairobi, Kenya, and has visited foreign countries
with different cultures and discovered "people are people no
matter where you go"; and
Whereas, at age six, Miss Kintz gave her first public talk about race
relations at the Louis Gregory Baha'i Institute as a first grader; and
Whereas, shortly thereafter, she was invited to give a speech at a
convention in Atlanta as a guest of the Association of Baha'i Studies;
and
Whereas, the Baha'i faith is a world religion in which all of its teachings
focus on the principle of unity and Miss Kintz believes "without
love, there is no unity and without unity, there is no peace"; and
Whereas, Miss Kintz has seen how destructive racism is and feels that
hatred of others just because they have different backgrounds comes out
of ignorance; and
Whereas, Miss Kintz organized the conference because she wanted to do
her part to stop that kind of ignorance among her generation; and
Whereas, Miss Kintz is a straight A student who has never missed the
honor roll, a reporter on the school newspaper, has skipped third grade
because of her academic achievements, is a student in Horry County's
Pursuing Excellence in Learning Through Innovative Cognitive and
Affective Nurturance (PELICAN) gifted program and is most proud of
her sharp mind; and
Whereas, Miss Kintz is an excellent role model for her peers and for
adults. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly commend Miss Anisa Kintz
of Horry County for her outstanding efforts to attack racism and to
educate other children and adults.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Miss
Kintz and her parents, Greg and Ginny Kintz.
