A Senate Resolution to recognize and express sincere appreciation to Joe A.
Young of Easley, South Carolina, for his service to the citizens of his
community as well as across the State of South Carolina.

A SENATE RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND EXPRESS SINCERE APPRECIATION TO
JOE A. YOUNG OF EASLEY, SOUTH CAROLINA, FOR HIS
SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS OF HIS COMMUNITY AS WELL AS
ACROSS THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA.
Whereas, Joe Young was born and raised in Pickens County and
demonstrated at an early age his leadership ability as president of his
fifth grade class and at the age of nine years old was a paper route
manager for three local newspapers; and
Whereas, as early as 1948, at the age of twelve years, and continuing
today, Joe Young received awards of recognition for outstanding
service; and
Whereas, in giving of his time and talent as a volunteer in many areas of
community service, Mr. Young has served for twenty-two years as a
fund raiser and supporter of the Boy Scouts of America, receiving the
South Carolina Governor's Volunteer Award in 1988; and
Whereas, Joe Young is recognized by his peers as a strong and effective
leader and successful businessman and, therefore, his service on various
boards and commissions has been extensive for many years; and
Whereas, he has served as a role model in the giving of a special gift--his time and talent on behalf of the betterment of the people across the
State of South Carolina, and in particular the people of Pickens County;
and
Whereas, Joe Young demonstrates a strong and loving commitment to
his family--his lovely wife Brenda and children Esther, Devon, Cassi,
and Taylor, and he takes great pride and pleasure in their
accomplishments and successes; and
Whereas, it should be noted that Joe Young's wife, Brenda Young,
describes her husband as "dedicating a large portion of his life to
helping other people. All the different projects he has been associated
with through the years have been a great joy for him because he felt it
was for the good of the people. Joe has always made his decisions based
on the needs of the other person without any regard for his own."
Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina express
sincere appreciation to Joe A. Young of Easley, South Carolina, for his
service to the people of this State and for unselfishly giving of his time
and talent.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr.
Young.
