A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE FAMILY OF MR. F. W. "BILLY" CAUGHMAN OF LEXINGTON COUNTY UPON HIS DEATH.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were saddened to learn of the death of Mr. F. W. "Billy" Caughman of Lexington County on May 5, 1991, at the age of sixty; and

Whereas, Billy Caughman was a native of South Carolina, born in Lexington County; and

Whereas, he was respected by all those who knew him as a man of integrity in his public and private life. He served his State and community in many ways including service as a commissioner for the South Carolina Department of Highways and Public Transportation from 1983 to 1987 and as a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, the Woodmen of the World, and on the board of directors of the Lexington State Bank; and

Whereas, Billy Caughman was also a successful businessman in Lexington where he was president of Caughman's Meat Plant and president of the South Carolina Association of Meat Processors; and

Whereas, with the death of this outstanding man, the people of Lexington and the State of South Carolina have lost a respected businessman, a civic and community leader, and a good friend; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to extend their condolences to his wife, mother, children, and other family and friends upon his death. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly extend their deepest sympathy to the family of Mr. F. W. "Billy" Caughman upon his death.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to his wife, Mrs. Marguerite White Caughman.
