A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND MASTER IN EQUITY WILLIAM LINCOLN SHIPLEY, SR. OF BERKELEY COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT.

Whereas, Judge William Lincoln Shipley, Sr. has retired from his position as master-in-equity for Berkeley County after thirty-two years of faithful and distinguished public service; and

Whereas, Judge Shipley and his wife Lavinia have been happily married for forty-five years and have four children; and

Whereas, Judge Shipley was born on October 14, 1926 in Moncks Corner and, out of a sense of responsibility and commitment, Judge Shipley served his country faithfully in the United States Air Force; and

Whereas, he attended the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he received his L.L.B. in 1950, and later returned to Berkeley County to practice law; and

Whereas, Judge Shipley's legal acumen lead to his appointment as master-in-equity for Berkeley County in 1961, a position in which he would serve for the next thirty-two years. Now therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate,

That the Members of the Senate hereby recognize and congratulate the outgoing Berkeley County master-in-equity Judge William Lincoln Shipley, Jr. on the occasion of his retirement and wish him well in his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Judge Shipley.
