A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AT THE DEATH OF THE REVEREND ZEDDIE MACKEY OF GREENWOOD COUNTY AND EXTENDING SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the Reverend Zeddie Mackey of Greenwood County has died at the age of fifty-seven; and

Whereas, he was president of the Greenwood--Ninety Six Branch of the NAACP, pastor of Pleasant Hill Baptist ChurchNext, member of Mount Moriah Baptist PreviousChurchNext, a board member of the Greenwood Federal Credit Union, a member of the Greenwood Ministerial Alliance, and the former pastor of New China PreviousChurchNext and Beulah Baptist PreviousChurchNext; and

Whereas, he was the former associate pastor of the Union Missionary Baptist PreviousChurch of Albany, New York, where he was a former city council member; and

Whereas, he was a former supervisor of Tobin's First Prize Meat Packing Plant, a former supervisor at the Greenwood Packing Plant and a former member of the Richland-Richmond Masonic Lodge 152 in Bethune; and

Whereas, he was an outstanding individual who was deeply committed to people and to his community, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring: That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express sorrow at the death of the Reverend Zeddie Mackey of Greenwood County and extend sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of the Reverend Zeddie Mackey.
