A HOUSE RESOLUTION TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE SOUTH CAROLINA SCHOOL FOR THE
DEAF AND THE BLIND GIRLS 1600 METER RELAY TEAM WHO RECENTLY COMPETED IN THE
SOUTH CAROLINA STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS.

A HOUSE RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE SOUTH CAROLINA
SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF AND THE BLIND GIRLS 1600
METER RELAY TEAM WHO RECENTLY COMPETED IN THE
SOUTH CAROLINA STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS.
Whereas, the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind Girls
1600 Meter Relay Team recently competed at the Track and Field
State Championship in Divisions IA and IIA; and
Whereas, the exceptional group of young athletes included Sonya
Bell, Shelia Jones, Jessica Smith, and Tiffany Wallace; and
Whereas, for the first time in United States history, Sonya Bell, who
is totally blind, participated in a state track and field championship;
and
Whereas, the courageous group of young women should be
commended for overcoming their physical handicaps and competing
in a state championship which should set an example for all of us to
strive to achieve; and
Whereas, the team's coaches, Jack Todd and Bill Ramborger, are to
be applauded for their fine coaching for helping these runners to
achieve their goals. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution,
recognize and commend the South Carolina School for the Deaf and
the Blind Girls 1600 Meter Relay Team who recently competed in the
South Carolina State Championships.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to
the members of the team, coaches, and President of the South
Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind.
