 A Concurrent Resolution expressing the sorrow of the members of the General
 Assembly at the death of the Honorable James M. Brailsford, Jr., of Orangeburg
 County, former Associate Justice of the South Carolina Supreme Court, and
 extending sympathy to his family and many friends.

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AT THE DEATH OF THE HONORABLE JAMES M. BRAILSFORD, JR., OF ORANGEBURG COUNTY, FORMER ASSOCIATE JUSTICE OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SUPREME COURT, AND EXTENDING SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the Honorable James M. Brailsford, Jr., of Orangeburg County died in November, 1993, at the age of eighty-three; and

Whereas, Justice Brailsford was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and the university's School of Law, served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 1939-1942 and from 1947-1949, and was judge for the First Judicial Circuit from 1949 until he was elected in 1962 as an associate justice of the state Supreme Court, from which position he retired in 1974; and

Whereas, he was an outstanding lawyer, a dedicated legislator, and a distinguished jurist who was admired greatly for his abilities throughout the State; and

Whereas, we want his family and his many friends to know that they are uppermost in our thoughts and have our deepest sympathy. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express their sorrow at the death of the Honorable James M. Brailsford, Jr., of Orangeburg County, former associate justice of the South Carolina Supreme Court, and extend sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Justice Brailsford's family, in care of his widow, Joan Ward Culler Brailsford.
