To whom was referred a Bill (S. 1140), to amend Section 59-5-70, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, relating to hearings of the State Board of Education, so as to permit the board to designate a hearing officer, etc., respectfully

A BILL
TO AMEND SECTION 59-5-70, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO HEARINGS OF THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION, SO AS TO PERMIT THE BOARD TO DESIGNATE A HEARING OFFICER AS WELL AS ONE OF ITS MEMBERS TO HOLD HEARINGS IN CONNECTION WITH ANY RESPONSIBILITY OF THE BOARD.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Section 59-5-70 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:
"Section 59-5-70. The board may, in its discretion, may designate a hearing officer or one or more of its members to conduct any a hearing in connection with any responsibility of the board and to make a report on any such hearing to the board for its determination."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
