A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 1-1-705 SO AS TO DESIGNATE SANDLAPPER, THE MAGAZINE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, AS THE OFFICIAL MAGAZINE OF THE STATE.

Whereas, Sandlapper, The Magazine of South Carolina, was first published in 1968; and

Whereas, the magazine is published today by Sandlapper Society, Incorporated, a nonprofit educational organization; and

Whereas, Sandlapper magazine has been telling South Carolina's story since 1968, and is read by people of all ages and diverse backgrounds; and

Whereas, Sandlapper, The Magazine of South Carolina, focuses on the history, heritage, culture, hospitality, and positive aspects of the State; and

Whereas, this magazine informs people across this Nation and in several foreign countries of events, attractions, businesses, and accomplishments in South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Article 9, Chapter 1, Title 1 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 1-1-705. Sandlapper, The Magazine of South Carolina, is designated as the official magazine of the State."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
