A SENATE RESOLUTION
IN OBSERVANCE OF BLACK HISTORY MONTH DURING FEBRUARY 1999, THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE RECOGNIZE THE OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE AFRICAN-AMERICANS THROUGHOUT THE HISTORY OF THE PALMETTO STATE AND NATION AND RECOGNIZE PASTOR WINFORD THOMPSON OF THE HALL HILL BAPTIST CHURCH IN LEXINGTON COUNTY AS THEY GATHER IN UNITY AND IN THE SPIRIT OF LOVE ON SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 1999.
Whereas, it is entirely fitting that we honor the enumerable contributions and accomplishments African-Americans have made to the enlightenment and unity of all people during Black History Month; and
Whereas, Hall Hill Baptist Church, along with Pastor Winford Thompson, has had a vast influence in Lexington and the surrounding communities over the years and has touched and shaped the lives of countless persons; the members of the church's congregation have always been dedicated, active, and committed to Christian ideals; and
Whereas, it is important that we remind ourselves of the historical and extraordinary contributions African-Americans have made to ensure that all citizens of this great State and nation have equal rights and justice; and
Whereas, African-Americans have been and continue to be selfless providers of vision and guidance to our Christian communities, which have allowed many groups and affiliations to work together for a better South Carolina; and
Whereas, the Senate is greatly pleased to have this opportunity to publicly recognize the observance of Black History Month at Hall Hill Baptist Church. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That in observance of Black History Month during February 1999, the members of the South Carolina Senate recognize the outstanding contributions of the African-Americans throughout the history of the Palmetto State and nation and recognize Pastor Winford Thompson of the Hall Hill Baptist Church in Lexington County as they gather in unity and the spirit of love on Sunday, February 7, 1999.
