A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE NEW HOPE CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP CHURCH IN GREENVILLE COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF THE DEDICATION OF ITS NEW SANCTUARY AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES TO THE CONGREGATION OF NEW HOPE THAT THE BUILDING WILL SERVE THEM FOR MANY YEARS TO COME.

Whereas, the New Hope Christian Fellowship Church in Greenville, South Carolina, began humbly in an old building located on Averill Street in Greenville in 1983; and

Whereas, in 1985 the church purchased and renovated a double-wide mobile home that served as its sanctuary for several years. The congregation faced many challenges to its faith as the members sought to fulfill their dream of building a new sanctuary; and

Whereas, New Hope Church was faced with decreasing membership, insufficient funds, and disappointing refusals from lending institutions when it sought to construct a new sanctuary; and

Whereas, New Hope also had difficulty securing a construction company until God blessed the church with the aid of Benson Construction Company of Clemson, South Carolina, who went to great lengths to help answer the prayers of the congregation; and

Whereas, the members of New Hope Church held fast to the belief that God was with them as they purchased land and obtained the approval of the Greenville County Zoning Commission for the building project; and

Whereas, the congregation at New Hope faced several other challenges before finally completing and dedicating their glorious new sanctuary, which now serves as a place to gather for celebration and worship of the Lord who made it all possible. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate New Hope Christian Fellowship Church in Greenville County on the occasion of the dedication of its new sanctuary and extend best wishes to the congregation of New Hope that the building will serve them for many years to come.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Harold L. McPhail, Pastor of New Hope Christian Fellowship Church in Greenville, South Carolina.
